The Other side of Dawn by John Marsden

The book I read is actually the last book in a series. The series is about Ellie and her group of friends who go camping in the Australian outback. When they come back everyone has disappeared and most of the livestock has been killed. They later find out their country has been invaded by an unknown invader. All their families were celebrating a national holiday so they were not prepared for an invasion. Throughout the whole series the kids do guerilla like attacks to disrupt their enemy and try to win their country back. The UN and New Zealand are on their side and fight with them but then they find out New Zealand has started a war with the invader.
