The Forest of Hands and Teeth takes place in the United States many years after an infection has turned most of the world's population into zombies. Small colonies of people live in fenced in cities with the dead waiting outside, watching them, hoping to feast on their flesh. Mary's whole life has been spent in such a village that is run by an order of strict nuns called the Sisterhood. She has always dreamed of leaving, and then one day, she has no other choice.

ABE Lincoln Award: Announcing the Winner

The votes are in for the Illinois Abraham Lincoln Award. Student across the state voted and chose The Hunger Games by Suzanne Colins as the first place winner. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles and Graceling by Kristin Cashor won 2nd and 3rd places.

Author Carrie Ryan to Visit on March 25

Writer Carrie Ryan will be visiting our school on March  25th at 8 am.

All students and classes are welcome.

Ryan is the author of a triology of novels that include The Forest of Hands and Teeth, The Dead Tossed Waves and The Dark and Hollow Places.


Ryan will be talking about The Dark and Hollow Places, which will be released on March 22.

Copies of the first two books are now available for checkout or for sale in the LRC.
Attendees at the event will have the chance to meet the author and have their books signed.
