Authors Visit Feb. 13th

Three authors are visiting CHS on Februrary 13th, everyone is invited to attend this wonderful opportunity. Meet Jennifer Rush, Erica O'Rourke and Julie Cross. Learn about the creativity behind their writing and what it takes to get a book published.

There will be two presentations the first during 7/8 hours and the second during 9th hour. Field trip forms are available in the LRC or from your English teacher.

More highlights of the day:

• Lunch with the Authors Essay Contest. Write a short essay on "What I hope to learn from lunching with the authors?" by Feb. 10th, and return it to the LRC or LRC drop box. Three to five lucky winners will be chosen to recieve a free lunch (pizza & salad) while dining with the authors.

• Raffle Prize: During the author visit every attendee will recieve a raffle ticket for a chance to win a signed copy of Altered by Jennifer Rush. Winner will be announced at the end of 10th hour.

A "Perfect" Author Visit: Ellen Hopkins on March 22nd

Community High School welcomes well known Young Adult author Ellen Hopkins on March 22nd during 2nd and 3rd hours in the auditorium. Hopkins has written many of WEGO's favorites including: Crank (2004), Glass (2007), Impulse (2007), Identical (2010) and her latest Perfect (2011).

If your 2nd and 3rd hour classes are not coming to the author visit, but you would like to attend:

• Get a field trip permission form in the LRC and return it to Mr. Bodwell or Mrs. Leahy by March 20th.

National Book Award Finalist Laini Taylor will be at WEGO on September 28th during periods 7 and 8 to talk about her newest book Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth takes place in the United States many years after an infection has turned most of the world's population into zombies. Author Carrie Ryan to Visit on March 25

Writer Carrie Ryan will be visiting our school on March  25th at 8 am.

All students and classes are welcome.

Ryan is the author of a triology of novels that include The Forest of Hands and Teeth, The Dead Tossed Waves and The Dark and Hollow Places.


Ryan will be talking about The Dark and Hollow Places, which will be released on March 22.

Copies of the first two books are now available for checkout or for sale in the LRC.
Attendees at the event will have the chance to meet the author and have their books signed.
