American Muscle Supercars by David Newhardt

I liked that this book did not focus on the individual cars themselves like a car ad would. Instead it talked about the change in people’s perception and the increase in performance based vehicles. I liked that the book focused on the fact there were performance shops popping up all over the country and this led to the birth of muscle cars.

The reason others would enjoy this book is because it is on the brink of an historic period in American history; the age of the muscle cars. This book is about the creation and evolution of the muscle cars, and people interested in cars would really like this book.

Fastback Beach by Shirlee Matheson

Fastback Beach was a pretty exciting book if you are into hot rods and racing. The book is a pretty short one but there are many events that keep you on the edge of your seat and ready to get up and read the next chapter without hesitation. I liked all the different cars that were displayed because they ranged from antique hot rods to luxury cars and plain old sports cars. Miles, the main character, faces a challenge throughout the book whether to rat on his friends for the crime he got in trouble for or take the blame more than once. Overall, this book was a good choice but a little short and to the point which isn’t always the best way to write a book.
