That Was Then This Is Now by S.E. Hinton

Do you like stories about gangsters? Or do you like to read about romance? If so, then the novel “That Was Then This Is Now” by S.E Hilton would be a good choice for you. This book tells a story about two friends who go through a lot of trouble to get money to help their mom who is in the hospital. “That Was Then This Is Now” is a book about two kids who are best friends. They live on the same street. They are like brothers. Mark lives with Brian because Mark's parents killed each other in an argument when they were drunk. The argument was about whom Mark's real dad was. Mark was alone and Brian's mom took him into her house because she always wanted to have a lot of kids but she couldn't. She saw Mark as one of her kids. Mark and Brian always hustle to get money to help their mom who was in the hospital. Brian and Mark went to see their mom in the hospital. Their mom asked them to go visit a kid who was in the other room with an injury who never got visitors. Mark did see the kid who was injured but Brian was too cool for that so since he was hungry he went to eat in the hospital restaurant. After that, Brian and Mark went to hang out with their boys. There was a dance and Brian and Mark went. Brian went with a girl but not Mark. That night Brian got into a fight, got hurt and went to the hospital. He was scared. This story gets better page after page and I know if you read this book you would like it a lot. I recommend this book to anyone ages 13 through16 because the book make more since to this age group than younger kids. You could really relate to this book because I know I did. This book has a twisted ending you would never expect. Lets just say Brian and Mark get real friendly. So pick up this book and read it.
