Books about Survival

Do you love watching “Survivor”? If you do then you will enjoy all the books listed below because one way or another they are related to surviving when grocery stores are not around the corner.

My personal favorite is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. This book can be located in the Fiction section of the library. All books in this section are organized by the author’s last name. The label on the book spine will read: F Paulsen,G.
Gary Paulsen writes about a teenager named Brian Robeson. Brian leaves his suburban house to spend the summer with his father in Alaska. He boards a small aircraft with enough room for two. Before reaching their destination Brian was forced to land the plane when the pilot has a heart attack. Brian survived the crash but would he survive the wilderness read Hatchet and find out.

Life as We Knew It by Susan Pfeffer   F Pfeffer,S
This is a quick read written in journal form about the days and months after the moon is hit by a giant meteor. What happens to a civilized society when it’s transformed by disaster?
We also have books about survival in our non fiction section. These books are organized by the Dewey Decimal system. Once you find an area of interest you should search that shelf for more books on your topic.

Living off the Land by Chris McNab is a non fiction book about surviving in the wilderness. This book and others about survival can be found in the non fiction section of the library at 613.69. Learn about finding water, foraging for food along with much more to survive without electric, gas and stores for food.
