This book is based on a TV series, Stargate Atlantis. Finding themselves in a lost city light years away from planet earth the team of explorers must find a ZPM, a powerful device that's their only hope to get back home. Using the "Stargates" machines that transport them instantly to other planets, they search for this device and anything else that may help them in their quest. The team, in particular, finds themselves at a planet with an abandoned, beaten and half destroyed tower of some sort.They explore and notice increasingly odd and out of place things. Before anyone can put the pieces together one of their own betrays them and they discover the place they stumbled upon is far more than just anabandoned tower, something far darker and more deadly than anyone expected.
I liked this book because it was full of adventure, plot twists and character development. Others can find it to be a good read with well written characters and a plot line that really isn't all that difficult to follow. They may need to have prior knowledge of the series; however, the author does explain it all fairly well in the book even without having to watch the shows.
