As I came close to the end of this novel, I read more and more slowly because I didn't want James' story to end. With his commitment to precise English, his dislike of most other people, especially people of the same age, and his love of his grandmother and her old house, James is the ideal antihero and friend. And most important of all, he never shared a dull sentence. This is a fascinating, suspenseful, witty and very humorous novel.
