I liked this book because of the critical approach it took to society and modern lifestyles of the time which still apply today. Walden is a real story of the author leaving "civilized" society to survive on his own with the help of nature. Thoreau is a strongly opinionated man and very well learned. It is a difficult read but the ideas are great and well supported.
