Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult is one of those books that you just can’t put down. It follows the story of a defense attorney named Ellie Hathaway who has gotten caught in the middle of a huge murder trial. She is defending an eighteen year old Amish girl named Katie Fischer who has been charged with the murder of her newborn infant. Ellie has to defend Katie using both the modern English court rules and the rules of the Amish community. Ellie has to deal with being pulled out of her own world and being forced to live like the Amish. It is very compelling and will keep you hanging until the very end.
